Of course, G.K. Chesterton was never anything but a bullhorn, so it's odd that he's the one who said that (I've always known the quote, but not the source).

Just as businesses would rather do anything other than compete, so writers seem like they would like to be judged on anything other than their writing. After all, writing is hard, and having the right political position is easy.

So, to my fellow writers: try to entertain me, because you sure aren't going to convince me.
